OBJECTIVE Phase III bleeding data by subgroups of previous contraceptive methods used immediately before switching to Kyleena® are shown. METHODS Both mean numbers of bleeding/spotting days as the categorized number of women (%) is presented for the first three months after insertion in relation to the contraceptive method used by the women before insertion. The number of bleeding/spotting days is given in the following categories: 0/1-4/5-7/8-14/15-21 days. Prior contraceptive methods of interest were: non-hormonal/no contraception, IUD non-hormonal, LNG-IUS, progestin-only OC, combined oral contraceptive (COC), combined non-oral contraceptives. Women without prior hormonal contraception and those switching from progestin-only OC had considerably more bleeding or spotting days. Differences declined during the second and third month but remained still noticeable.
