Objetive. This study aimed at identifying in ultrasound the findings of copper intrauterine device by teenagers' who were placed after an obstetric event. Methods. 242 teenage with IUD  TCu 380A, which is placed postplacental. This retrospective observational study was conducted by the department of Sexual and Reproductive Health. Totally, 242 adolescents were consulted from January to December 2013. Written informed consent was obtained from participants aged < 1 7 years. Copper intrauterine device (CuT380A) were immediately placed after child birth (postplacental/intra-cesarean) or abortion. The surveillance was at 6 weeks, 3, 6, 9 and 12 months after placement, performing transvaginal ultrasound and determining the position of the IUD regarding endometrial cavity. Expulsion: pass of device in cervix partial or complete. Displacement: Rotation or displacement of device in uterine cavity. Results. The relocations were 37 (15.2%) in total, including those who were expulsion 22 (9%), removed 1(0.4%) and displacement 14 (5.7%).The placement methods were as follows: 112 (46.2%) trans-cesarean, 124 (51.2%) postplacental, 1 (0.4%) first 48hours and 5 (2.0%) post-abortion. Conclusions. The IUD postpartum is excellent contraceptive option for teenage. IUD effective monitoring in addition to clinical examination can be supplemented with ultrasound to identify position of the device and improve their outcomes.
